Dear Jack, Dear Louise

Gulfshore Playhouse

Director: Risa Brainin

Ken Ludwig’s Dear Jack, Dear Louise is a beautiful two-handed epistolary based on how the playwright’s parents met.  Our production features a dynamic spatial soundscape, immersing the audience in the world of the characters.

For the final scene, set during VE-Day, I partnered closely with dramaturg Matt Lytle to research the sounds of celebrating Manhattan in 1945.  Listen closely, and you'll hear banging pots and pans, cathedral bells, choirs of people singing, boats on the river blasting their horns!
